Rising Toronto producer and polymath maestro, River Tiber (Tommy Paxton-Beesley) once again drops colour from his highly anticipated Indigo LP.
Last week saw the unveiling of VHS-led nostalgic video West, splicing together what looks like home-recorded video clips for a cosy and grainy visual accompaniment to his after-hours slow-jam.
Today Lightning strikes twice, taking form in corrosive new track ‘ACID TEST’.
This track is deeply intimate, though the feeling is achieved with loose and sometimes barely audible vocal washes, defying the construction of a typical pop song while keeping the same heated romance.
If you’re wondering who the hell River Tiber is, (though I find that hard to believe) The Toronto prodigy came under the spotlight last year when his track ‘No Talk’ was sampled by Drake on his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late album.
Sniffed by Christopher Thompson.
Along with Drake credits and placing his talents to BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah’s album, Sour Soul. The multi-instrumentalist has a soulful new collab with Pusha T on illusions, along with track listings on Kaytranada’s recent 99.9% album in addition to a some meaty hip-hop and R&B inspired EPs.
River Tiber’s debut album, Indigo is due for release later this year so keep an eye out on his socials for updates.
